Renting Out a Granny Flat with Cubbi (Assisted Management)

Step 1: Add the granny flat as a property

From your dashboard click New Property.

Step 2: Choose the right plan

On the plan selection screen, choose Essentials or Plus.

  • Most owners of granny flats choose Essentials.

Step 3: Select the correct tenant situation

When asked “What’s your tenant situation?”:

  • Select “Existing tenants” if someone already lives in the granny flat. This skips move‑in and avoids sending a new lease.
  • Select “New tenants” if you need to advertise or create a lease for new tenants.

Step 4: Type in the address of granny flat

  1. In the address field, type the main property address where the granny flat is located (do not include the words “granny flat” in this field).
  2. Select the correct address from the dropdown when it appears.
  3. After selecting, click “I can’t find my address” to unlock manual editing.
  4. In the Unit / Level field, enter a clear identifier such as “Unit,” “Studio,” “Flat,” “Granny Flat,” or the specific flat number (e.g., “Unit 2” or “Granny Flat A”).

Tip: The address should make it clear what you’re renting out. If you have multiple granny flats, add each one as a separate property and repeat the steps above.

Step 5: Recommended property details

  • Property Type: “Unit” or “Studio” is usually appropriate.
  • Bedrooms/Bathrooms: Enter the actual numbers for the granny flat. If it’s a studio, enter 1 bedroom.
  • Parking and features: List only what belongs to the granny flat (not the main dwelling’s features).
