How to set up AutoPay

For Renters:

Renters can set up AutoPay to pay rent at the start of using Cubbi or anytime afterwards.

Previously called 'Direct Debit', we believe 'AutoPay' more accurately reflects the process of automatically debiting rent from the renter's bank account when it's due.

Please note, the amount and frequency of payments are always based on the rent payment terms of the lease. The Owner/Manager is not able to set up AutoPay on behalf of the renter. However, the rent payment terms of the lease may require the Renter to set up AutoPay. Learn more.

How to set up AutoPay

1

Navigate to set up AutoPay

When a renter is invited or approved for a property, they can click the link from the email to accept the invitation or lease, during this workflow, there is an option to set up AutoPay.

Alternatively the renter can set up AutoPay anytime afterwards from their Cubbi dashboard by navigating to the AutoPay page after selecting the tenancy.

2

Select when the payment is to be deducted

By default the payment is set to deduct on the rent due date. For example, if the rent is due fortnightly on the Wednesday, the payment will be deducted on the Wednesday. The renter has the option change this to debit rent 'x' days before rent is due. This is helpful for renters if they want to pay rent earlier or sync up the payment with their pay cycle.

From April 2024, AutoPay payments are processed via PayTo, enabling real-time payments (30 seconds). Prior to April 2024, the default number of days was set to 5 days prior to the rent due date to allow for the Traditional Direct Debit processing time and ensure the rent is paid on-time.

3

Connect your bank account to debit payments from

Payments are processed via PayTo, a new, fast alternative to Traditional Direct Debit.

Word of caution - not all bank accounts are available when connecting a bank to pay via PayTo. Please check the list of available banks here or contact your bank if you are having issues.
